THEODOOR VAN ERP
The
Delft Student Corps held a festival ("lustrum") every five years since
1848. This was the 16th. The highlight of the festival was an outdoor play. Van
Erp's poster is an Art Deco tour de force that contains the strong influence of
German Expressionism and Bauhaus design principles. Much like Schulz-Neudamm's
poster for the film Metropolis, it expresses anxiety about humanity being taken
over by machines.
